The groom as seen by...
...the bride
So, I'm getting married: that's because I found my Prince Charming. And charming Silviu is: he has laughed so much about everything and anything that he has adorables wrinkles at the corner of his eyes. As he knows how to take life lightly and with heartily laughs, he is my ideal companion.
He knows how to listen, to understand what people have deep inside and to guide them wisely and with philosophy. A real walking encyclopedia with knowledge developped from eclectic readings (Libération, le Canard enchaîné, Dilbert, Tom Clancy, San-Antonio, and even Télé Star), Silviu has achieved a personal philosophy of life and culture. We spend hours discussing about the world, myself revolted, him philosophic. After eight years together, Silviu still amazes me with his historical sum-ups, his quotes and his jokes.
I have learnt to know Silviu during our student computing projects and realising projects together is what I like most: we are very complementary (I take care of the thinking, and he does the doing, he he ;)), we understand each other immediately and often have the same (good) ideas. I often drag him in my farfetched ideas, also known as "displeasing hobbies"
(hey, what if we made a blog about our travels? What if we built a wooden bar for our kitchen? (it's so easy to do!) What if we got married?). Luckily, Silviu is never reluctant, and I guess he is not yet tired of that because we still have a lot of projects after the wedding...
Charming, psychologist and cultured, Prince Silviu is also courageous. He likes to take chances and nothing scares him: rock climbing, scuba diving, free fall... Even the wedding didn't scare this fool.
To sum it up, I would say that Silviu is the ideal man when one listens to the complains that women often have about their husbands: he listens, talks, has a lot of humour, likes (extreme) sports (it's OK, we have a good insurance), is handy (even if he never finds the hammer he has just used 10 seconds before... and we also have a good insurance), fixes my laptop, does house chores, takes out the trash... As some might put it, I have found a pearl!
...Vladimir, elder brother and witness
I have learnt about Silviu's wedding with much pleasure and it's a honor to attend as a witness. Am I not very qualified to fullfill this task, me who as an elder brother have been a witness of his first steps? And it was something to see! His interest for technics was already visible when, at age two, he kept trying to build complex devices using a few strings! This common passion always brought us together and made us discover, later, the mysteries of computing, where we both made a career.
As a good-humored and reasonable guy, Silviu never created problems, and deserved the title of "wise of the family" that our mother gave him. Even more: if he didn't exist, Silviu should be invented! He takes all the challenges he meets on his way: from parties with friends, that he animates so well, to overseas travels, to skydiving, and maybe soon, who knows, to space travel! And all this with a "professional" attitude. Silviu is also a real troubleshooter. For any small problem that may cross his path, he will deliver a solution with his always-present smile, even if it meant spending countless hours on it! We have been separated geographically for the last ten years, but we still stay in touch and I'm happy to be besides him in this important day.
...Raphaël, best friend and witness
I believe it was in the beginning of October 2002, at the start of the Licence Professionnelle at the Metz university that we got to know each other. I remember that we talked about 9/11 (as everybody was doing back then) and strangely we were sorrier for the New York landscape than for the victims! That's a detail that stuck to my mind and that announced a lot of good things to come between us.
A few software masterpieces, the Simpsons, Les deux minutes du peuple, the Chrysler building, Cadillacs, the Last Crusade, Marty McFly and Ford Crown Victorias later, I realised: cool, I found another crazy guy just like me!
Of my "best friends" (there are two of them), Silviu is the only one that shares so many things with me. He's also the only one who can travel 900 km to come and watch the Simpsons movie in Antibes... Now that's what I call friendship!
...Catherine, bride's witness
A passionate of photography and technics, you'll often see him hidden behind his camera or sitting at his workstation, enhancing the pictures from his last trip. Thanks to him, you can visit New York while staying in your armchair! He also has a beyond-understanding taste for San-Antonio books (we did try to understand!), lame puns and thrills (he's a skydiver), yet he never accepted to be a passenger in my car!
Besides his activities, he has a developped taste for couches, and enjoys lying on them... Don't let him get near yours, he won't leave it!
